The U.S. Marshals Service announced on Tuesday Stephanie Creasy, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, was selected by Attorney General Pam Bondi to serve as its new deputy director.

According to the Marshals, Creasy has served with the Marshals since 1998 and was at one point assigned to complement U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) operations in West Tennessee, during which she helped locate one of the agency’s most wanted criminals in 2013. She is a graduate of both the University of Memphis and Troy University.

“Stephanie Creasy has distinguished herself as a senior leader within the U.S. Marshals Service and I am honored to have her serve as our Deputy Director,” said Gadyaces S. Serralta, the Director of the Marshals. “Her leadership will strengthen our enduring commitment to protecting the judiciary, reducing violent crime and making America safe again.”

Creasy (pictured above) previously served as the acting deputy director, beginning in July, according to the Marshals.

The announcement notably comes amid the Marshals’ presence on the Memphis Safe Task Force, which was deployed to the city in September.

Since the deployment, a Memphis data portal shows nearly 4,700 arrests have been made in the city, while authorities have additionally recovered 620 vehicles and 1,090 illegal guns.

Of the arrests made so far, 1,897 have been for felony offenses, and 2,793 for misdemeanors. A total of 1,351 arrests were made due to court-issued warrants, including 729 for felonies and 622 for misdemeanors.

Reports of serious crime are down 44 percent over the previous year, while total calls for service are down 20 percent, and the clearance rate for crimes is up 4 percent.

President Donald Trump credited the task force for the recent drop in crime during a White House cabinet meeting in October.

“I just add a couple of things in Memphis, as you know, where the numbers are down in half already and it’s only been about two weeks,” said Trump.

“It was very sick city. It was horrible what happened there,” Trump said, before later adding, “already the numbers are far superior, far, far better than what we would have thought at this time.”
